Andy Salkeld

I always describe myself as living a life of two halves. At least I did until I almost ended them both.

My name is Andrew Salkeld. I am a Chartered Accountant and member of the ICAEW. I trained at PwC specialising in Corpoate Finance. Following my move into industry I focused on business intelligence and analytics. Now, after numerous industry positions I am a Finance Director at a Leeds based tech business with ambitions of helping the high-street fight back.

Sounds pretty good doesn't it? Sounds like I have it all figured out!

But there's two halves to this story.

My name is Andy. I was diagnosed with depression a number of years ago. Following various events, I became suicidal and wanted to end everything. My life now has an almost end. I am medicated. I regularly speak to a therapist. I do what I can to survive and now share my story and experience with people all over the world in the hope that those that might be struggling and are too afraid to talk about it, like I once was, know that they are not alone. I first shared my story in Breaking the Stigma and have since gone on to publish it in Life is a Four-Letter Word.

I am a geek. I love boardgames, pop punk and ska music, enjoy cooking and being creative. I live with my cat Pika and try to enjoy life in the present, rather than worrying about the past and the future. I'm still everything from that first introduction. It just isn't what defines me anymore.
